Description

This 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon earned “Best of Show” in October 2011 at the NC State Fair Wine Competition with over 400 commercial wines competing. In addition it received our best consumer quality rating of 4-stars. Aged for nine months in a blend of new and seasoned oak, this Cabernet Sauvignon has rich flavor and body with luscious tones of leather, tobacco, dark chocolate and brown spices. This is a wine for the wine collector, connoisseur, oenophile, or someone who just loves a good Cabernet. Gaining national recognition, RayLen Vineyards’ wine was featured in December 2011 on NBC’s Today Show as an example of the wine trends of 2012, proving that the North Carolina wine industry is continually growing.

Rating a wine is not for experts alone. This skill can be developed by anyone with enough practice and exposure and it starts with understanding the elements in winemaking, tasting and rating. There are basically 4 areas where wines are rated. These are appearance, aroma, taste and after taste.
